Are you an experienced Science educator ready to lead with vision, integrity, and innovation? Rutherford College invites applications for a permanent Head of Faculty – Science position, ideal for a dynamic and motivated leader with proven experience in the New Zealand education system.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Science teacher and leader who can:

  • Provide strategic and pedagogical leadership across the Science Faculty (Years 9–13).

  • Inspire and support a team of Science educators to deliver engaging, culturally responsive, and future-focused learning.

  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across all Science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, General Science).

  • Lead effective planning, assessment, and curriculum development aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum and NCEA.

  • Foster student curiosity, achievement, and success in Science.

  • Champion cross-curricular initiatives and contribute actively to the wider school leadership team.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Holds a current New Zealand Teaching Council registration.

  • Has extensive teaching experience in Science at the secondary level, including NCEA Levels 1–3.

  • Demonstrates strong leadership experience or potential, ideally in a HoD, HoF, or TIC role.

  • Possesses excellent communication, organisational, and mentoring skills.

  • Is committed to equity, excellence, and culturally inclusive education.

  • Embraces innovation and continuous professional growth.
