Groundsman - Full time, permanent

Applications close: 2 weeks from now - 8/07/2025.

We are one of the largest multicultural schools in New Zealand, with over 2300 students representing more than 55 nationalities, a true reflection of Taamaki Makaurau.

We are led strongly by our educational framework Te Ara O Taawhaki and our values of Respect, Excellence, Whanaungatanga and Akoranga. They guide how we work together as a school community and our student motivation and achievement is strong, through the hard work and dedication of a caring and professional staff.

We are looking for a proactive and reliable person to join our property team as a Groundsman. This is a vital position that helps keep our school buildings and grounds safe, tidy, and well cared for – ensuring a welcoming environment for our tamariki, staff, and whānau.

You’ll need to be someone who takes pride in their work, shows initiative, and can manage their time effectively to meet deadlines. A flexible, can-do attitude is essential. You’ll be working closely with others, so the ability to build positive relationships and interact appropriately within a school setting is a must.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the day-to-day upkeep of school grounds, property, and buildings.
  • Mowing of school grounds and lawn areas
  • Maintain hard areas clear of rubbish & leaves
  • Setting up of new / replacement garden areas
  • Carry out field marking and maintenance as required
  • Ensuring outdoor areas are clean, safe, and well presented
  • Care and maintenance of school fields to ensure use throughout the year
  • Regularly liaising with the Property Manager regarding priorities and completed work as neceesary

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Practical handyperson skills in groundskeeping and basic building maintenance
  • Great communication skills across different people and roles
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of the Property team

If you’re someone who enjoys variety in your work, likes being outdoors, and wants to contribute to a vibrant school environment, we’d love to hear from you.
