About the roleRutherford College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher Aide to join our team as the Learning Support External Assessment Manager. In this part-time role, you will play a vital part in supporting students with special educational needs and ensuring they are fully prepared for external assessments. Your excellent organisation and communication skills will be invaluable as you coordinate the external assessment process and liaise with teachers, students, and their families.
What you'll be doing
Manage the external assessment process for students with special educational needs, including coordinating exam logistics, arranging reader/writer support, and ensuring appropriate accommodations are in place
Collaborate with teachers to develop tailored study plans and exam preparation strategies for individual students
Provide direct support to diverse learners in exam contexts to ensure they can succeed in their external assessments
Maintain detailed records and documentation related to the external assessment process including the ability to track and report on progress and collaboratively problem solve.
Communicate regularly with students, families, and school staff to ensure a smooth and supportive assessment experience
Contribute to the development and review of the school's learning support policies and procedures
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Teacher Aide or Learning Support Assistant, with a strong understanding of the needs of students with special educational requirements
Detailed knowledge of how NCEA exams are run, and the processes that must be followed
A competent user of KAMAR (SMS), Excel spreadsheets, Assessment Manager and Exam.net
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and personal growth of students with diverse needs.

This position is for 31 hours per week, term time only. Start date: 14 July or soon after. This position is covered by the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and is considered a Grade D, for Teacher Aide positions.
