ENGLISH CURRICULUM LEADER

We are looking for an aspiring or experienced English Curriculum Leader (1MU) to join our diverse and dynamic English Learning Area team. You will lead part of our English programme with the specific responsibility of bringing a Te Ao Maaori lens to our leadership team and leading our kaupapa Maaori pathways within English Learning spaces. You will need to be someone who can work collaboratively and collegially with our English & Media leadership team and the wider learning area. You must be a relational and student-centred practitioner who demonstrates effective classroom practice. We are looking for someone with strong culturally sustaining pedagogy and knowledge of the NZ Curriculum and NCEA, especially at senior levels. 

We are one of the largest multicultural schools in NZ, with around 2,000 students. We serve a predominantly Pasifika and Maaori community and are dedicated to serving our school community in mana-enhancing and culturally sustaining ways. Qualities that would strengthen your application:

  • Being able to lead in our kaupapa Maaori pathways. 
  • Being able to lead the learning area in te reo me ona tikanga. 
  • Experience or interest in using indigenous frameworks for learning and assessment. 
  • Knowledge of flexible assessment practices and Universal Design for Learning. 
  • Strong knowledge of NCEA and the curriculum, especially at senior levels. 
  • Knowledge of the upcoming NCEA changes. 
  • Experience with tracking, interpreting, and responding to achievement data with a focus on equity and excellence. 
  • Experience in curriculum or pastoral leadership.
