Hard Materials Teacher

We are looking for a creative, innovative and enthusiastic teacher to join our supportive and well resourced technology team at Westlake Boys High School. 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an outstanding learning environment and part of our team. Westlake Boys is a state secondary school in Forrest Hill on the North Shore in Auckland.

The ideal applicant will be a skilled all rounder, jack of all trades within the hard materials, building and construction, and / or mechanical engineering departments. We are looking for someone who is comfortable teaching all curriculum levels and enjoy working collaboratively with others. 

Please state your subject specialisms within technology.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a love of learning and is passionate about helping ākonga reach their full potential 
  • Be a team player who can work collegially with staff and contribute positively to the team 
  • Have excellent communication skills 
  • Be organised and able to meet deadlines 
  • Be confident and comfortable teaching in a workshop environment 
  • Can model best practice health and safety to ākonga and staff at all times

Applicants must be NZ registered, fully conversant with the NZ Curriculum and have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teacher's Collective Agreement (STCA) Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement (2022–2025) The base salary for trained and registered teachers currently ranges from $59,027.00 to $99,216.00, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. As an AEWV employer we will meet the AEWV obligations.

Individuals’ actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment by Education Payroll once a role is confirmed.
